With the recent announcement of Avengers: Infinity War (among a number of other films), Marvel fans everywhere are continuing their debates on which items in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also double as the Infinity Gems (for those of you not in the know, the gems basically have the power to alter aspects of the universe; holding all of them gives the wielder something along the lines of god-like power). While four confirmed gems have been shown on screen so far, not all of them have actual statements from directors or producers backing up which specific gem they are. So far, this is the list of gems that we know of (NOTE: this list combines rumor and fact as to which gems are which, all of which are marked accordingly):

Power: Orb (first shown in Guardians of the Galaxy) CONFIRMED

Time: Unknown

Space: Tesseract (first shown in Captain America: The First Avenger) CONFIRMED

Mind: Loki’s Scepter (first shown in The Avengers; later shown in Infinity War teaser) RUMOR

Soul: Unknown

Reality: Aether (first shown in Thor: The Dark World; later shown in Infinity War teaser) RUMOR

Only two gems have yet to appear on screen. So the question remains: which movies will introduce them? Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a good bet for the Soul Gem (a gem with the power to control, you guessed it, souls), given the potential for Adam Warlock’s involvement. In the comic books, Warlock, after playing a big role in the original Infinity Gauntlet story, was the possessor of the Soul Gem for a great period of time, leading to him being the one most closely associated with the gem.

The Time Gem, given what we know about Marvel’s upcoming slate of films, could make an appearance in either Doctor Strange or the opening of the first part of Avengers: Infinity War, although the safer bet would be the former (if only to strengthen bonds between the doctor and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe). However, until more news is revealed about these films, remember to take all rumors about the gems as just that. More information will be posted on this blog as it is announced.
