WARNING: Major spoilers below

Here we go again.

Despite the seeming death of Dr. Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne, AKA the Reverse Flash, during the season finale of the CW television show The Flash, we’ve known for some time now that Wells will definitely be making a return appearance. Actor Tom Cavanagh had already been established as having a role in the upcoming second season, while newcomer to the show Tony Todd (from the Candyman series) had been cast as the voice of the returning villain. However, until today, we weren’t entirely sure what direction the writers would take to bring back the Reverse Flash.

While discussing the second season with TVLine.com, executive producer Gabrielle Stanton mentioned that “Harrison Wells will be back, but he’s going to be a very different Harrison Wells…We’ve got other worlds. We’ve got other timelines. All I’m going to say is he’s from one of those places.” Interesting, especially with Stanton teasing both the future arrival of villain Killer Frost, thanks to her husband Ronnie (Robbie Amell) playing a “big role” in her character’s development, as well as mentioning the slowed down pace of Cisco’s transformation into the superhero Vibe.

The second season of The Flash premieres on Tuesday, October 6 at 8 p.m. EST.
