Any Chance of Changing the Red Tornado Costume?

Today, a picture of the overall costume for Iddo Goldberg’s Red Tornado in the upcoming Supergirl television show were released online, and it was…okay, I guess? I mentioned this on Twitter earlier today, but I’ll say it again: Red Tornado looks a lot like Marvel’s Vision android. Marvel and DC have been “inspired” by each other a lot in the past, there’s no denying it. Maybe Supergirl took some inspiration from Vision’s design, maybe they didn’t. I’m not commenting one way or the other on that, but I am saying that, whatever the reason, Red Tornado looks way too much like Vision and needs to change.

It doesn’t even have to be that big of a change. Maybe, instead of the gold lines on the sides of his head, Red Tornado could go with the more traditional arrow? Or perhaps the colors could be made brighter? Maybe the body texture could be made less rough and become smoother/more metallic (okay, maybe this one’s a bit bigger than the other two)? Either way, I want to watch Supergirl and not keep thinking I’m watching a Marvel character interacting with rivals on a DC show. Considering Marvel released their live action character first, I think it’s only fair for DC changes theirs, if even a little.

Supergirl premieres on Monday, October 26 at 8:30 pm before moving to its regular time slot on Monday, November 2 at 8:00 pm.

I don’t really like the costume, but I’m sure some of my readers might love it. Sound off with your feelings on Marvel’s new pairing below, or send me a tweet about it with that widget on the left.
