Now “Batman v. Superman” is a sequel to “Man of Steel”?

While talking with Canoe on the upcoming Batman v. Superman, director Zack Snyder revealed that, contrary to statements made about the film previously, the second outing in the DCCU actually will be considered a direct sequel to Man of Steel.

“I think in a way ‘Batman v Superman’ is ‘Man of Steel 2’. ‘Justice League’ is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”

“Move over Boy Scout, this is my movie now.”

So wait, why the sudden backtracking? Are we even getting a Man of Steel 2? Despite Snyder and actor Henry Cavill both stating that a proper sequel is on the way, it still doesn’t make sense that we’re looking at branching out the entire DCCU, complete with a rumored “buddy cop” type movie, and Superman isn’t even getting a true sequel yet.

Honestly, after the massive split between reactions online, as well as the relatively shaky platform Superman movies have to stand on in the public eye (people don’t just forget about things like Superman 4 or Superman Returns that easily), I’d be shocked if we ever got a true sequel for the Man of Steel. However, I’d rather not say anything for certain, since only time will tell.

Still, that’s more of a story for another day. Meanwhile, what did you think about the news that Batman’s invading Superman’s sequel after all?
