UPDATE: I hadn’t yet seen last night’s episode when I originally posted this article. As such, there was incorrect information listed below, which has since been deleted.

The original story is as follows:

Earlier today, Nerdist snagged an interview with executive producer Bruno Heller, and many (potential) spoilers were let loose during the conversation that took place, including:

1. Jerome = Joker?

The idea of the Joker’s origins being shown in a future episode/storyline has divided fans since Gotham was first announced. Many have since warmed to the idea after the introduction of fan favorite Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), although the show still hasn’t taken the full plunge yet. On the subject of whether or not Jerome actually is the Joker, Heller stated only that the show would be moving towards a definitive answer eventually.

We’re going to be giving you concrete answers to his identity…That story is going to come to a huge and shocking resolution which will explain the whole Joker myth and how it began and how the Joker came to be.

2. Cold, Cold Heart and Dr. (Hugo) Strange

One of my favorite reveals during the interview was the mention of both Hugo Strange and Mr. Freeze. Said Heller,

Something we’re going to see this year is the underbelly of Wayne Enterprises…When we go there and see what they’re doing down there, we’re going to be introducing the great Dr. Hugo Strange and Mr. Freeze.

If the characters can have even a fraction of their representations from Arkham City and Batman: The Animated Series, respectively, then they’ll be fan favorites for sure.

3. Gotham Pushes Back

Finally, the GCPD doesn’t waste their time getting shot up by a small handful of people. Of course, with Michael Chiklis taking over from Sarah Essen as Captain Barnes, Heller claims that the city will escalate actions to deal with criminals like the newly arrived Maniax.

The immediate result of that massacre is the arrival of the new captain…It’s basically a new dawn in the GCPD because finally, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) has a partner inside headquarters who is as daring, as brave, as willing to go the extra yard to change the city.

No matter what, I can’t wait to see the future of Gotham. What about you? Did you enjoy the latest episode that aired today (review coming soon, by the way)?
