Yesterday, at a special double panel for both Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Marvel not only premiered the entire first episode of the Krysten Ritter headlined show, but also gave a (very small) teaser for the second season of Daredevil! Much excitement was felt all around, especially when Jessica Jones first appeared on screen. Let’s take a look at both below.

Daredevil

It’s only fair if we discuss Daredevil first, especially with the lack of sizable content shown at the convention. A sizzle reel of the first season was played first, highlighting many of the season’s best moments and essentially showing what gave it such rave reviews in the first place.

Afterwards, a teaser for season two was played, showing short clips of Matt feeling guilty (despite his work as Daredevil), Elektra readying herself for a fight, and the Punisher demanding a criminal “beg”. You can watch the Daredevil footage in its entirety below.

I really enjoyed this part of the panel because of the comments each of the cast members made regarding both their characters and filming the next season (trust me, you’ll know what I mean when you watch the panel, also included below). The next season of Daredevil will premiere sometime in 2016.

Jessica Jones

This was an interesting one. Initially leading attendees to believe they’ll be watching clips of the upcoming show, a la Daredevil, Marvel pulled a fast one instead and revealed the entire first episode in all its incredibly dark glory.

It apparently hits all the necessary points a show based on the Alias comics needed to hit, including sex scenes, hardcore psychological issues, and memorable performances. Ritter especially earned a lot of praise for her role, with website Superherohype even commenting that they believed she could nab herself an Emmy nomination.

One thing a lot of the reviews and comments on the episode agree upon is the very smart decision to not feature Zebediah Killgrave, aka the Purple Man, too much in this episode. Rather, the general consensus is that he takes on a pre Iron Man 3 Mandarin type role: mostly felt, not necessarily seen. Either way, I can’t wait for the premiere of all of the episodes of Jessica Jones on November 20.

Are you as excited as I am about both of these members of the Defenders? Let me know either in the comments below or with a tweet through that widget on the left.
