Jessica Jones Month: AKA Scott Lang

Welcome back to Day 12 of Jessica Jones Month! While we may or may not be getting a crossover with Daredevil, I’m starting to wonder if we’ll see any references to the rest of Jessica’s interactions in the Marvel Universe. Obviously anything to do with Spider-Man will be out (given the age difference), but what about with a certain Avenger?

Believe it or not, Scott Lang and Jessica Jones dated for a brief time, all because Jessica’s friend Carol Danvers, aka Ms./Captain Marvel, thought he’d make a better fit for her than future husband Luke Cage. Great call Carol.

During the events of Alias, we see Jessica interacting with Marvels left and right, including Thor, Captain America, and as many Spider-Man villains as you can cram into a short series. However, it isn’t until issue 13 when we see her interacting more seriously with the second Ant-Man, Scott Lang, who asks her out on a date. The two seemingly hit it off, despite witnessing Dr. Octopus, Spider-Man, and the Human Torch all involved in a Benny Hill style chase down the street close by them.

After Jessica saves herself from Purple Man (when he broke out of prison the first time), she reveals to Scott that she was pregnant for a few months. Surprise though! Turns out the baby isn’t his (spoiler alert: it’s Luke Cage’s baby). Faced with this information, Scott simply walks away, leaving her to explain the situation to Luke, where we know they eventually get married and raise the child together.

While I’m sure the Netflix show won’t feature quite all that on screen, it wouldn’t hurt to make mention of Scott as an old boyfriend of Jessica’s, would it?

Even though Paul Rudd would be awesome to see on Jessica Jones, do you think simply throwing out his name would work just as well? Let me know, either in the comments below or with a tweet through that widget on the left.
