WARNING: Spoilers ahead

An international promo for The Flash was released online today, and potentially gives away a good amount of material for next week’s episode (titled “Gorilla Warfare”). You can check out the promo below, but due to the major spoilers in the footage we’ll be discussing, I’m putting up a second Spoiler tag here.

I thought it was a bit odd that Barry became paralyzed after Zoom’s attack during the last episode. True, had Zoom taken his speed the way he did with Jay, then maybe it would make a bit more sense. However, Caitlin still made mention of Barry’s fast healing, eliminating this possibility. This new promo has the characters claiming that Barry’s problem is psychosomatic in nature, meaning his only problem is with himself. Something (most likely fear) is keeping him from becoming the Flash once again (think a terrified version of the “losing his powers” subplot from Spider-Man 2).

In what I’m guessing is a way to solve both Barry’s speed issues and the new problem of a returning Gorilla Grodd, we also see the Earth-2 Harrison Wells donning a replica of the Reverse Flash costume his Earth-1 counterpart wore (remember, the original disappeared after Eddie Thawne shot himself). Overall, Earth-2 Wells wearing the costume makes sense: Earth-1 Wells was really the only one Grodd listened to in the last season, and Barry’s continually mentioned feelings about the Reverse Flash mean that his desire for revenge could help jumpstart his super speed.

Full of spoilers, I know, but how are your feeling about “Gorilla Warfare”?
