If you’ve been keeping up with me on Twitter (if you haven’t for some reason, either click that widget on the left or click here, because you absolutely should), you’ll know that I’ve been working on the first ever Comic Books vs The World Youtube series: Superhero Smackdowns! This Sunday, we’ll finally settle the debate on who would win in a fight between Doomsday and the Incredible Hulk. Starting today, however, we’re going to go a little further into the history of each character, just so fans on both sides know who exactly is stepping into the ring.

Hulk vs Doomsday

Who’s bringing home the glory?

Born Robert Bruce Banner, the Hulk came into existence after the good doctor was bombarded with an accidental overdose of gamma radiation from his own invention, the gamma bomb. Miraculously not dying, Bruce instead found himself changing into a ranging grey/green monster any time he gets agitated. Since then, the Hulk has been a member of a number of super teams, fought his way across an alien planet before waging war against Earth, and met pretty much every character the Marvel Universe has to offer. As Bruce, he’s had to watch his wife die and come back as a plant person (no, seriously, that happened), infect his cousin with his own gamma blood and turn her into a Hulk-like being, and technically killed himself, only to come back later so he could do it again. Keep in mind, this is all the easy to remember stuff. It get weirder from here folks.

One of the strongest beings in his universe, the Hulk is certainly no slouch when it comes to throwing down and proving his ridiculous levels of strength. But will it be enough to handle the rampaging monster who beat the Man of Steel to death (sorry, into a “healing coma”) with his bare hands? Find out this Sunday, when Hulk finally gets to test his might against Doomsday!

In the meantime, let me know who you think would win in the comments below, or with a tweet through that widget on the left. Better yet, like the Comic Books vs The World Facebook page, and subscribe to the official Youtube channel to keep up with all the latest on Comic Books vs The World.
