Earlier today, Empire magazine released a few new images from the upcoming Deadpool film, along with a few quotes from the Merc with a Mouth himself, Ryan Reynolds.

For instance, despite the fact that it has already been confirmed that Deadpool holds a place within the X-Men Cinematic Universe, Reynolds reconfirmed it by stating the following:

This film certainly works within the context of the X-Men universe…but it doesn’t necessarily include the sensibilities of an X-Men movie. It’s like taking an X-Men character, pumping him full of LSD and then releasing him back into the fold.

Things get really interesting by the second picture, as we see Deadpool hanging around with newcomer Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), while the latter is wearing a very familiar costume. Will the New Mutants be mentioned in the film at some point? Considering Deadpool’s first appearance was in issue 98 of their comic book (and, you know, the New Mutants costume), I’d say it’s a strong possibility.

We also see the character Angel Dust (Gina Carano), looking like she just lost the fight we caught a glimpse of in the latest Deadpool trailer. Don’t expect her to be down and out though. Anyone strong enough to knock out Colossus and tank a hit from Negasonic Teenage Warhead can’t stay down for too long.

Deadpool will arrive in theaters on February 12, 2016. In the meantime, keep checking back here at Comic Books vs The World for any new information (and don’t forget to grab a copy of Empire when it’s released tomorrow!)
