Last week, director James Gunn held a special Facebook Q&A with fans around the world, and dropped some interesting MCU news in the process! If you haven’t seen it, click here to watch the 12 minute long video.

First, Gunn reconfirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will begin production in February (one month to go!), news that Kevin Feige actually dropped recently. He also continued explaining bits and pieces of the highly anticipated sequel, taking time to note that “Thanos is not a big part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

We have a separate story we’re telling…Guardians is more about the Guardians universe, and although we’re connected to the rest of the universe and, of course, there’s always a chance for the Guardians to interact with the rest of that universe, that’s not what this movie’s about. This movie isn’t about leading up to that…This is about the mythology of the Guardians themselves.

After mistakenly stating he liked the Doctor Strange script (he meant to say he liked the images), Gunn began talking about Captain America: Civil War. Having seen the film early, Gunn basically stated what we were all thinking/hoping for: that it was “one of the best Marvel movies ever.”

I saw Civil War and I think it’s incredible. It’s one of the best Marvel movies ever, and I can’t believe what a wonderful job the Russo brothers did. And the cast. Oh my God, they’re so good. So it’s an amazing film and people are going to be really excited to see that come summertime.

Thanks for the positive word of mouth Mr. Gunn! On top of that, after he was asked about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the film, Gunn began dropping a ton of praise on Marvel’s version of the character.

I’m trying to think about what is cool to say or not. But I will say this one thing. Tom Holland is…off-the-charts awesome. Off. The. Charts. Awesome. Off the charts. Truly. Hand to my heart, he’s amazing.

I’d like to think that a comment like this means that, despite a number of comments on message boards everywhere, Spider-Man does have a relatively large role to play in the upcoming film, and has a pretty memorable part to boot. However, only time will tell exactly what kind of impression the new Spider-Man is able to leave on audiences when the film arrives.

Captain America: Civil War will arrive in theaters on May 6th, 2016.
