Despite what many fans believed/were hoping for, Disney recently announced that their well received and critically acclaimed animated superhero film, Big Hero 6, will not continue with a sequel film. Instead, the company announced today that the adventures of Hiro Hamada and his friends will continue on the small screen, with a television show set to premiere on Disney XD sometime in 2017.

The show is set to pick up from where the film left off, with Hiro now enrolled at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where he will face “daunting academic challenges” and “social trials” on campus, while also helping his friends protect San Fransokyo from “an array of scientifically enhanced villains,” according to the announcement from Disney.

Big Hero 6 was originally released on November 7, 2014.
