Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter brought word that Sony Pictures has decided to revive their plans for a solo movie starring Venom, the symbiotic life form once connected to Spider-Man himself. Even worse, THR noted that this upcoming film is intended to launch an entire series of films, the first of which is (as of now) completely unrelated to the MCU or to its version of Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland.

There is currently no information on which version of the character Sony plans on using, although it’s a safe bet that, given the success of Deadpool and the studios currently rushing to produce R rated superhero films, Sony will be using the original Eddie Brock version.
