Last week, Iron Man 3 director Shane Black revealed in an interview with Uproxx that he originally planned to have a female version of Aldrich Killian as the film’s main antagonist, although he was later “convinced” to swap the character’s gender in order help the film sell more toys. Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter, after learning about the controversy on The Late Show, stated the following:

Girls can sell toys. I don’t know if there is [a Jessica Jones toy] yet, but there should be and I bet it would sell huge, and I’m gonna make some phone calls after this.
