The CW has officially found its Man of Steel for the Flarrowverse! EW reported earlier today that Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Clark Kent, aka Superman, for The CW’s new superhero show Supergirl. Hoechlin’s appearance as Superman in the first two episodes of Supergirl will mark the first time the character has fully appeared on camera, rather than sending messages or appearing as blurry and/or obscured figures.

Executive producer of Supergirl, Andrew Kreisberg, was quoted as stating:

Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.

It’s currently unknown how large an impact Hoechlin’s version of Clark Kent will have on The CW’s superhero universe, although many are expressing hope that he sticks around for as long as possible (or at least until he can be rescued by Barry Allen during The Flash‘s Flashpoint style Season 3).

Supergirl will air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET this fall on The CW.
